What should I bring to class?
Just bring your swimming gear, a towel, and of course, your great mood—because we want you to have fun! Pack some lunch and water to keep you fueled, and don’t forget that sun protection—we like you tan, but not too tan! And lastly, bring along your best sense of humor—because we’ll be laughing, splashing, and catching waves all day long.
As for the rest? Leave it to us! We’ve got the surfboards, the instructors, and the good vibes covered. Just show up ready to have a blast!
Where do we meet?
We’ll be meeting close to the 4th flag at Famara Beach, unless we’ve agreed on a different spot. Please try to arrive a little early—it’s always better to be prepared! Starting the session fully ready with your swimming gear and sun protection will set you up for success. You’ll also be wearing one of the wetsuits we provide, and trust us, getting into a wetsuit can take a bit of practice (but we’re pros at helping you with that).
Once you’re all geared up, we’ll do a quick warm-up to get your muscles ready before hitting the waves! The earlier you arrive, the more time you have to get comfortable and start the lesson with a big smile. See you there!
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes before your session to ensure you’re fully prepared. This gives you time to apply sun protection, get into your swimming gear, and, of course, wrestle with your wetsuit (it’s a bit of a challenge, but we’ve got your back!).
What should I do if I wear contacts?
No worries, we’ve got you covered! If you wear glasses, we recommend switching to contact lenses for your lesson, as glasses can easily fall off in the water and become lost. If you’re not comfortable wearing contacts, you might want to consider sport glasses with a secure strap or even prescription goggles.
If you wear contacts, just make sure they’re daily disposables or ones you’re comfortable with getting wet. The sea can be a bit tricky with contact lenses, so it’s always a good idea to bring a spare pair with you just in case.
Above all, make sure you’re comfortable and ready to focus on the fun—surfing is about enjoying the waves, not worrying about losing your eyewear!
Do we have to use wetsuits or can I bring my own?
At Free Soul Surf Lanzarote, you do have to wear a wetsuit—it’s part of staying comfortable and protected while surfing in the cool waters of Famara. But if you have your own wetsuit and prefer to use it, feel free to bring it along!
We provide high-quality wetsuits for all of our students, but if you have one that fits you just right and you’re more comfortable in it, we totally understand. Just make sure it’s suitable for surfing (a snug fit is key!) and you’re all set!
